If You Are Confronted By the Press

We want to get this out in the media as much as we can. Meaning that there is a chance you may be approached by a journalist while you are at the capitol; if you are uncomfortable with this, just tell the person that is attempting to interview you that you don’t want to speak to them and they should leave you alone. But if this happens, we encourage you to offer your views and thoughts on the issues of school shootings and school safety. However, we also ask that you make a point to note the goals and philosophies of this project that you will be participating in. This is not directly about gun control, although we do support it. This project is about remembering the victims of school shootings. If they ask why you are in the capitol, then say it is because we need to keep this in the forefront of Congress’s mind. Please do not make this about your personal beliefs regarding this issue although we do acknowledge your views.
